If you want an easy but longish hike across beautiful fields and woods of East Sussex then this circular route might be the one you’re looking for. One of the best parts is moated 14th century Bodiam Castle that is approximately in 2/3 of the hike.
It starts and finishes in Robertsbridge where you can get from London Charing Cross in 1 hour and 19 minutes. Although the route is not really challenging it’s a great choice if you want to escape to the picturesque English countryside to reconnect with the nature. Along with the landscape you’ll surely enjoy all the donkeys, horses, ducks, sheep or deer you meet on the way.
The hike is about 21.9 km long and we made it in 6 hours with one short break in the middle. Make sure you take a sandwich with you as the nearest pub is by the 15th kilometre, right after Bodiam Castle. 1 minute from the train station in Robertsbridge there’s a pub called Ostrich where I highly advice to grab a few pints before jumping on the train back to London.
Btw. you’ll be crossing numerous fields so it may get really muddy if it’s been rainy.
